IMPORTANT KING VOLUNTEER INFO BELOW (Please Read)

Thank-you so very much for your willingness to volunteer for the upcoming KING Winter Invitational meet. Meets couldn’t run without your support. There is a good mix of new and experienced volunteers. The Winter Invite is in its third year and the meet is fun for the volunteers and fast for the swimmers.

Check out the list of IMPORTANT volunteer information. New folks and experienced will find the tips helpful and overall good reminders.

Check-IN Log: All volunteers’ need to sign-in at clerk/course table. Find your name in the book, then initial next to your shift by day. (i.e. Saturday shifts on Saturday and Sunday shifts on Sunday). The book is alpha-order making it easy to find your name.

Concession & Hospitality Lead: Contact Theresa Moffatt, Hosp./Conc. Chairperson, tcmoffatt@yahoo.com for specific details.

Hours Reporting: Hours are reported to Service Hours Recorder at the meet conclusion. Credit is given based on the Volunteer Log. If you don’t sign-in, credit may not be applied. Hours will be reported to your account within TWO weeks of the event.

Ice Toter:Contact Theresa Moffatt, Hosp./Conc. Chairperson, tcmoffatt@yahoo.com for specific details and to coordinate picking up the buckets before Saturday morning.

OOPS, Can’t Volunteer After all: Online job sign-ups close, Thursday, Feb 11, midnight. “If your plans change after this date, it is your responsibility to find a suitable replacement for your shift.”  No shows are inconsiderate to the other volunteers and members that would have liked to volunteer. If you anticipate a conflict, take time to remove your name before Thursday so others may have the opportunity to sign-up.

Open Jobs: Session 2 & 3 has open spots available as an Announcer, Announcer Trainee and Concession Lead. Please consider signing-up as one of these jobs.

Parking: Parking is available at MT Rainier High School approximately 10 mins from the pool. Plan accordingly. Want to park closer at future meets? Become an official. Contact George Luksetich, Official Coordinator, for more information.

Parking Marshall: Parking folks need to sign-in the Volunteer Log before starting their shift. The parking lot next to the pool is for officials and coaches. You will direct all other cars to the Mt Rainier High School parking lot.

Safety Marshall: Safety Marshall’s will walk the pool deck, helping to enforce pool deck rules and maintaining cleanliness. Rules include but not limited to: Asking swimmers to stay out of the aisles as their bags, towels and food spread allover; picking up trash and monitoring warm-down pool. Safety Marshall’s will gently remind spectators that seating on deck is limited to swimmers and coaches.

Shift End Time: The number of meet entries and the swimmers entry times determines session end times.  Sometimes the sessions will last longer than the original timeline. Most jobs require volunteers to stay until the session is completed.

Start On Time – Timeliness is very important. Shift times are set-up for a specific purpose. Morning shifts (6:00am, 7:00am. 7:30am) are especially important to starting the day off right. Important job details and meet preparation occurs in the opening hours. Please do not stroll in late, expecting us to be happy that you at least showed up. I cannot stress enough the importance of timeliness. There are several members that would like the opportunity to volunteer. You signed up for the shift. We expect you understand what day and time you should begin.

Some folks are eager to start their job. Unless specifically asked to start early by the Meet Director, Hospitality/Concession Chairperson or Hospitality/Concession Lead – please do not start until your scheduled time. We work hard to ensure the hours start and end time match the needs of the meet.

Timeline & KING Entries: Check out the KING website meet event page for the Winter Invitational Meet. The timeline and KING entries are posted under documents and forms at the bottom of the page.

Timers: After signing-in the Volunteer Log at clerk/course table, check-in with the head timer where your lane assignment is determined. All timers need to attend the timers meeting scheduled 20 minutes before the competition each session. Listen for the timer’s meeting exact start time during the warm-up session.  ALL timers need to attend the timers meeting and be on time, including experienced, seasoned veteran timers; otherwise your shift may be replaced.

Trainee’s:  All trainee shifts and no experience required jobs would have experienced volunteers training side-by-side with you. Volunteers will discover they become successfully skilled by the end of the shift, as most jobs are on-the-job training. Training manuals are available for announcers and clerk/course. Timers have a checklist on lane timer clipboards.

Volunteer Emergency: Contact meet director by TEXTING (253-355-8451).

Warm-ups: See your swimmers coach for specific warm-up times.
